Jim Howard, Chief Executive Officer

As CEO, Jim is focused on advancing CrownPeak's leadership in the software-as-a-service market. Under Jim’s leadership since its founding in 2001, CrownPeak has become the market leading company in cloud-based content management software. Among the companies in the CrownPeak client roster today are Staples, Skype, MetLife, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Kaiser Permanente, Moog, and the State of Virginia. CrownPeak has been named as one of the 100 most influential companies in Online Content by eContent Magazine, one of the top 25 ASPs in the world by ASPNews, and was chosen as an SIIA Codie Award finalist for Best Content Management Solution three years in a row. Jim was named by CMSWatch as one of the 20 People to Watch in Content Management.

Jim’s professional background combines extensive startup experience with years of software development and professional services delivery and management. He has spent the past eleven years working with web content management and search technologies.

Jim previously held senior executive positions in professional services management, sales, and operational management with companies such as USWeb, MarchFIRST, and successful startup, W3-design.

Carl Sutter, Chief Technology Officer

As CTO, Carl is responsible for the strategic direction and management of all technology development for CrownPeak. Carl's responsibilities include management of the engineering and software Q/A team, planning and executing new product development and serving as a thought leader for CrownPeak solutions. Previous to CrownPeak, Carl was a Partner at USWeb/CKS, where he led technical services for Global 3000 companies including Times Mirror, Paramount Pictures, CCH, Amgen, and NBC.com. Carl was also the senior programmer analyst at the University of Southern California Center for Scholarly Technology, where he helped establish some of the first ever online library initiatives. While at USC, he also developed ground-breaking Web systems including the Mercury Project, the USC TommyCam, and the Robotic Telegarden, which enabled users to manipulate the real world via a Web interface.

Carl holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Bob Spinner, Sigma Partners

Bob joined Sigma in 2003 as Venture Partner and in 2006 became Managing Director. He brings to the firm two decades of high-technology business operational experience. Throughout his career, Bob has served in various operational capacities, including CEO, worldwide sales, technical sales support, software programming, database design, and private and public fundraising. While at Sigma, Bob has helped a number of the firm’s portfolio companies expand operations, build management teams and increase revenues. Bob’s focus areas include business applications, software as a service, ecommerce, IT infrastructure, and Internet Services.

Prior to joining Sigma, Bob was President and CEO of Extensity. During his tenure, Extensity grew from $1 million to $25 million while raising money through private funding and an Initial Public Offering. In March of 2003, Extensity was sold to GEAC. Prior to Extensity, Bob was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and International Operations at Clarify, a leading provider of integrated CRM solutions. During his tenure at Clarify, he grew the company from $5 million to $140 million in revenue while managing a worldwide organization of 260 professionals. Prior to Clarify, Bob served in expanding roles at Sybase including working as the director of one of Sybase’s most successful regions. Bob has also held technical roles at ADR and Chevron, including sales engineer, programmer and database administrator.

Bob received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Troy Fukumoto, AllianceBernstein

Troy Fukumoto is the Managing Director of Private Equity and Venture Capital within AllianceBernstein’s Alternative Investment Management Group. The group manages over $8 billion of private equity and hedge fund investments. Troy manages partnership investments in buyout, growth equity, distressed, venture capital, secondaries, direct investments and co-investments.

With over 20 years of investment and operating experience, Troy has served as a board director or observer for over 20 companies and has served as an advisory committee member for 15 private equity partnerships. He has managed over 50 direct investments and dozens of private equity partnership investments.

Troy has been responsible for investments in a number of leading technology, digital media, life science, and cleantech companies. Earlier, he led teams building mission critical satellites. He held both project management and line management positions, and focused on custom designed spread spectrum demodulators and digital processing systems.

Troy holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and an M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
